2018 Race Report
The 7th annual Carsington 7+ took place on Sunday 6th May 2018. The race had the highest number of entrants to date, with a field of 489 runners taking part on race day. The weather on the day was hot and sunny and the atmosphere in the race village was fantastic as usual. The support of volunteers and spectators also gave the runners additional motivation around the challenging, undulating course. The official charity was Derby & District RSPCA and the team received many kind donations of cash as well as donated items to sell in the charity shop.
The race took the very scenic route around Carsington Water, providing beautiful views along the way.
The first runner over the line this year was Chris Millett of Team Derby Runner in 45:39, second was Jordan Street of Clowne Road Runners Club in 49:41 and third was Richard Spear in 50:25.
The first female to cross the finish line was Rachel Uff in 58:48. Second was Eleanor Lunt of Long Eaton Running Club in 58:59 and in third place was Kelly Butler in 59:14.
The course record of 44:02 by Chris Shelton in 2016 remains unbroken for a second year.
Thanks go to: The team at The Derby Runner who sponsored the prizes and race numbers; Buxton Water for providing the water for runners; East Midlands Airport for supporting the event by providing refreshments for volunteers; Severn Trent for providing the fabulous venue for our event.
The Race Village next to the Carsington Water Visitor Centre featured pre and post-race massage from Lottie Riddle, Derby Runner retail stand and Derby & District RSPCA.
A special thank you to all of our fantastic, hard-working volunteers without whom there would be no event.
