Race Route
Runners complete a full 7.5 mile clockwise circuit of the reservoir, taking in spectacular views across the water and the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Mainly on cycle tracks, the course is flat in places but includes some moderate undulations. Marshals will be based at key parts of the route and the course will be signed by yellow arrow markers. Mile markers will also be displayed to update you on your race progress.
The course has been accurately remeasured as per AUKCM standards.
The start line is located on the top car park on the right hand side as you enter the visitor centre site.
There will be two water stations on the course at 2.6 miles and 5.2 miles. Carrying bottles around the course is allowed (although do not litter) and bottle belts and hydration backpacks are permitted. There will be a 500ml bottle of water available at the finish for all runners.
Course Notes
We ask all participants to be considerate of other runners and the general public on race day and please be aware the course is not closed to other visitors. Apart from some minor uneven parts on the track, we would like to bring the following points to your attention:
- At 5.1 miles, there is bollard as you enter onto Oldfield lane and another as you exit it back onto the trail path. There will be a marshal located here.
- At 7.3 miles, there is a fence that protrudes from the right which will be removed to allow for a safe and undisrupted running line to be taken. The route crosses the sailing club vehicle entrance here and there will be a marshal located here controlling any traffic.
Any hazards will be clearly marked on race day.
FIRST AID
St Johns Ambulance first-aiders will be based in the race village and on Oldfield Lane. There will also be St Johns Ambulance first aid response cyclists on the course. If at any time you require medical assistance please notify one of the marshals located on the route.
